Mike Riddle Wins Dew Tour Superpipe!!!

Breckenridge, CO
The lights were on and the crowd was huge, eagerly anticipating the first major halfpipe final of the 2009/2010 season.
Canadian Team members Matt Margetts, Justin Dorey, and Mike Riddle were all sitting in good positions for the final, and the pipe, although slightly smaller than the 22 foot transition that most of the athletes have been training on, was cut perfectly.
In the first run of the "best of two run" format, things did not go well for the team, with Mike, Matt, and Justin all having troubles on their first hit. Justin definitely led the "best crash" category, after catching one leg on the deck while landing a gigantic double flip, exploding into the flat bottom of the pipe like a grenade. Luckily, Justin is built of solid brick, and simply brushed himself off, then headed back around for his second run.
Matt was the first team member to drop for his second run, and after landing the double that had given him trouble on his first run, he locked into what looked like a great run. Unfortunately on one of his final hits (a rightside 1080), he slipped out on landing, and consequently was forced to settle with 10th place. Still a great event for Matt, who is skiing better and going bigger than ever before.
Justin redeemed himself on his second run, stomping the double with authority, and flowing into the rest of his large and highly technical run. Things were looking flawless until the bottom of his run, when he wobbled on one of his switch landings. He did a great job of staying on his feet, but the small mistake was just enough to keep him off the podium. In the end Justin finished 5th, a very solid result to start off the season.
The night belonged to Mike Riddle, who rose to the pressure like a true champion and laid down a run that none of the other competitors could touch! Starting with a double, and finishing with a massive switch 900, Mike was pretty much on fire, going huge and displaying unbelievable grabs and style, on even his most difficult tricks. The crowd went wild as the score was announced, and Mike climbed the podium for his first Dew Tour victory!

May 2009 - Level 1 Park Shoots

So I recently wrapped up my competitive season and made the trek down to Colorado/Cali with Level 1 for their end of season Park Shoots in Copper and Mammoth. The weather didn't really co-operate in Colorado as much as I had hoped but our week in Mammoth was insane!!! I had never been there before and the guys at Mammoth did not dissapoint!! Big Thanks to Oren for looking after all of us. I don't have a lot of pictures from the trip cause I was skiing most of the time but I will post what I have and remember to check out Level 1's fall release "Refresh" to see the highlights!!!
